Form
Definition
Form is a three dimensional shape, such as a cube, sphere or cone.
Sculpture and 3D design are about creating forms.
In 2D artworks, tone and perspective can be used to create an illusion of form.

Research of Artists
Edward Henry Weston (March 24, 1886 – January 1, 1958) was a 20th-century American photographer. He has been called "one of the most innovative and influential American photographers…" and "one of the masters of 20th century photography." Over the course of his 40-year career Weston photographed an increasingly expansive set of subjects, including landscapes, still lives, nudes, portraits, genre scenes and even whimsical parodies. It is said that he developed a "quintessentially American, and specially Californian, approach to modern photography" because of his focus on the people and places of the American West.
i felt that these images by Weston show a good portrayal of form as it shows the 3D shapes of the object while still being a 2D image, and shows the depth of the image while using tone as well as form, the use of the plain black background makes the subject stand out more and also emphasises the form of the subject.

images that require improvement
the following images were out of focus and therefore required improvement, i improved the m by taking the shot again and refocusing my camera.
AO1: Develop ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and critical understanding.
(Here you will discuss how you developed your work based on your research of e.g. artists/photographers, etc).
(It is important that you show a progression of your work… which may mean revisiting a subject area and adding additional images showing a development of your ideas or refinement of the final images through).
my idea for this shoot was to capture the form of nature by photography different plants and trees along a riverside.
The artist research was very useful during these shoots as I had some inspiration on how to tackle the subject of form. My research of Weston helped me to focus on the details of the plants. I found this helpful because where I live I have a lot of opportunities to photograph different forms of nature.
The research on form was helpful to this study and I feel that I shot some good photos that had that had enough detail to draw the viewer's eye to the object. Unlike Weston's work, i aim to keep my images in colour yet still experiment with the black and white element within his work.
AO3: Record ideas, observations and insights relevant to intentions, reflecting critically on work and progress.
My idea for recording form was to photograph the form of nature, like Weston's work which used naturally occuring objects like shells and flowers, and to focus on isolating thesubject from the background by altering the focus of the camera. I was inspired by the work of Weston by his method of using black and white photography, and by what he captured within some of his photos.
With reference to my best images, I feel that although I could not create photographs exactly like Weston's photos, I did create a set that was in the style of his work. I am happy with the overall outcome of my images and feel that they all show the many ways that form can be captured within a photograph both with and without editing.
AO2: Explore and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes, reviewing and refining ideas as work develops.
I used a NIKON D3300 for all the shots taken. I tried to increase the aperture setting to as high as possible so that I can have a sharper picture with a wider depth of field, however in some cases this was not possible as the lighting was poor and the images ended up over exposed or blurred.
camera settings for my best images
1st column is shutter speed
2nd column is aperture
3rd column is the International Organisation of Standardisation which is the amount of light
the general editing process for my images

i first altered the brightness and contrast, then the levels of the image and finally the curves of the image.

| final outcome |
i did this same editing process for all my images, except the black and white ones, in which i used the black and white tool to complete those edits.

AO4: Present a personal and meaningful response that realises intentions and, where appropriate, makes connections between visual and other elements.
(At the end of the entry you will discuss whether you have produced a personal and meaningful response, this means (are my images creative/relevant to the subject area studied/connected and influenced by any research undertaken).
I believe that I have produced a strong series of images inspired by my research of form and the artist Edward Weston but with my own individuality to it. The final images were refined by developing the contrast and changing the brightness as well as curves and levels.
